The Work and Travel program is the most popular international student exchange and work abroad program for students during the summer holidays in the United States. The program has two parts, the first part is the work. Every student has the right to work ONLY in the period from May 8 to September 1, the exact dates of work each student can select individually, considering the personal plans and passing summer exams, however within the period of May 8 - September 1. Jobs are offered only in the service sector, these are amusement parks, restaurants, shops, national parks, hotels.
At the end of the working period, each student has the right to the second part of the program - journey. The trip can last a maximum of 30 calendar days, each student independently chooses by himself the duration of travel and their route. However, the participant has the right to straight away go back home at the end of working period, without traveling. During travel student is not allowed to work. The visa is issued until September 1, but participant is able to stay in the US until September 30th.

Under the Work and Travel program, students can work in the service sector. Mostly these are jobs in stores (sellers, cashiers), restaurants (cooks, assistants cooks, waiters, waiters assistants, confectioners, dishwashers, baristas, etc.), hotels (housekeeping, reception), amusement parks (lifeguards, attractions operators, cashiers and sellers, etc.), etc. Videos of our students from their workplaces can be viewed in our instagram page @workandtravel_astana.

The vast majority of employers provide accommodation. It will be paid by you depending on the working conditions. Rent starts from 25 to 180$ per week. You will be given a minimum of 32 working hours. Regular working week is about 40-60 hours. You will also be given 1 or 2 days off. Payment - an average of $ 10 to $ 16 per hour. Starting from 41 hours, overtime hours are paid respectively, payment for overtime hour is increased by 1.5 times.
For example: you get paid $12 an hour, you worked 55 hours a week.

Schedule is set individually. For example, from 10:00 to 17:00 or from 17:00 to 23.00

Work is selected throughout the United States. After passing an interview with a US visa sponsor, you will be sent a list of states and employers, among which you can choose any option you like. But also, it depends on the deadline for applying for the program. The earlier you apply for the program, the more choices you have.

Yes, we accept Master's students for the Work and Travel USA program (except for the last year of study). But the chances of getting a visa are less than for undergraduate students 50/50.

No, only full-time students can take part in the program (except last year of study).

You can work in any period from May 8 to September 1. After the end of working period, the student can travel from 0 to 30 calendar days and stay in the United States until September 30.

As such, there is no age limit for participation in the program. The main requirements for participation in this program are: to be a university student and speak English. However, many visa sponsors choose not to recruit students over 25 years of age. Each such case is considered individually, but if you are in the “student age” of 18-25 years old, then you don’t have to worry about this.

Yes, you can. We can send you and your friends to the same employer in the same state, as long as you apply and pay at the same time.

Yes, as long as you have agreed on a work schedule with your primary employer and the second job does not interfere with your primary obligations. Also, you must first send the completed Job Offer to the sponsoring organization. And only after its confirmation (up to 3 working days) you can start the second job.

Interviews for participants in the Work and Travel USA program are held from April to May.
